The Economic Development – Arts and Culture team delivers and facilitates quality cultural programs that enhance community vibrancy. Four positions are required to support culture programs and to provide visitor information services at the Visitor and Heritage Information Centre. Our team’s mission is: to support the attraction and retention of local talent, cultural tourism and placemaking.
Tasks & Accountabilities:
Operate the City of Waterloo’s Visitor and Heritage Information Centre, greet visitors to the centre and provide tourism information
Perform administrative functions such as open and close procedures, research, and collection and analysis of visitor data
Assist with culture program delivery
Assist with the promotion of local artists and community organizations
Assist the Economic Development Division with the preparation and distribution of marketing materials
Demonstrated knowledge of the City of Waterloo and its local tourism environment
Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service
Excellent research skills
Ability to work independently and organize work tasks with minimal direction
Experience with delivery of public programs would be considered an asset
- A satisfactory police Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check will be required as a condition of hire
Hours and Availability:
Hours will vary due to scheduling requirements, including evening, weekend and holiday shifts
Shifts will typically be scheduled between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday from May 4-August 31,2020 and 9am and 4pm, Saturday to Sunday from September 5-October 18, 2020.
- The Visitor and Heritage Information Centre has regular operating hours between May and mid-October Flexible availability between May and October is therefore required
