Description
Instructor/Lifeguards
As an instructor/lifeguard, you will provide quality swimming lesson instruction and lifeguard services at the Waterloo Swimplex. Your excellent customer service and interpersonal skills combined with a background in aquatics, waterfit instruction and/or the Lifesaving Society Learn to Swim program will allow you to excel in a busy aquatic environment.
Application deadlines: Recruitment for spring 2023 is ongoing. The deadline for applications to be considered for summer 2023 recruitment is May 23, 2023, and to be considered for fall 2023 recruitment resumes are due by September 13, 2023.
Hours: Flexible schedules; some positions with day, evening and weekend shifts of 9-24 hours per week; some positions with day shifts working up to 35 hours per week, subject to seasonal programming demands.
Rate of pay: $20.45 per hour.
Work location: Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex (Swimplex), 101 Father David Bauer Drive and Moses Springer Pool (summer only).
Required Qualifications:
- LSS Instructors and Swim Instructors
- National Lifeguard Service
- Standard First Aid & CPR C certification
- Aquatic skills will be screened prior to an interview
- A current Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the city is required immediately upon hire
